My Facebook news feed has been filled with first day of school pictures. Smiling faces, shiny new backpacks & trendy little signs that declare that it’s the sign holder’s first day of school. Sometimes with the student’s name and date on it (both in Jackson’s case because I’m an overachiever it’s the Virgo in me).
I’ll admit it, I hopped on the bandwagon. What if my son asked me in 15 years why he doesn’t have a collection of cute pictures on our front porch with handmade signs? That’s highly unlikely, but I’m not a risk-taker, so at 9pm last night I threw together a sign using PicMonkey.com and printed it on cardstock paper.
After a few takes, we got the above picture. I whipped a collage together using the Diptic app on my phone using a picture snapped on the way into his preschool and BOOM, uploaded to Facebook for the masses to enjoy (or non-parents to curse me under their breath).
Since I like to keep it real in all aspects of my life, I waited about an hour to upload my favorite outtake from this morning’s pre-preschool photo shoot. Here is my son in all of his threenager glory: the “Jackson face.” Established 2009 on the day of his birth and kept up on a daily basis to fill my life with drama:
Don’t worry, Jackson LOVED school. The only reason the “Jackson face” came out this morning was because he was *cold* in his fuzzy fleece jacket for the 15 seconds I asked him to stand outside.
I love that dramatic little face. I hope he thanks me when he wins his first Oscar.
Love it. Thanks for keepin’ it real. 😉
