When I was pregnant with Jackson, the first thing my husband did was search for Boston College books for our unborn child. He found a cute little book that talks about BC to read to our baby and I was so depressed that I couldn’t find a similar version for my love alma-mater, University of Florida. Fortunately, soon after Jackson was born, UF graduate Amy Hammond wrote “When I Grow Up, I’ll Be a Gator.” As soon as I heard about it from Gator friends I ordered my copy and have read it to both Jackson & Sidney ever since.
I love being able to read this book to both kids and show them the fun illustrations of my campus. They enjoy the bright colors and I appreciate how the book touches on all aspects of college life, especially making good grades. Jackson loves to “read” the book out loud and ad-lib what he sees on the page. This is a great book to start talking with kids about the importance of doing well in school so they can go to an outstanding school like the University of Florida (or Boston College since I know my husband will make a comment).
