{see Monday’s #weekinmylife here}
Both of my kids have succumbed to a cold. Poor Jackson has the croup bark, completely blocked nostrils and a slight fever. Sidney is cutting her second tooth and is congested, no croup yet though. I gave both kids ibuprofen last night before bed, which helped Jackson sleep all night, but Sidney woke up in pain around 3:30am. I rocked her back to sleep and let her crash in our bedroom pack and play. My mother-in-law came up to the house at 9:15am so I could get to the hospital for my skin surgery. I got to the hospital in plenty of time, but my plastic surgeon was running late due to another emergency surgery. I thanked my blessings that my surgery was minor and that I didn’t have to rush home to relieve a babysitter.
I waited an hour and a half before being taken back to the surgery room. A few observations from the waiting room: people complain a lot, but it doesn’t take much to bring them together. Somehow we were all friends by the time I taken back. Some folks were there for back pain, some skin cancer and others didn’t share. Also, check out the pen holder on the waiting room table– yuck! Aren’t those made to pee in?
The surgery went well. I did feel the scalpel on my abdomen’s surgical site but I figured it could have been much worse. I have about 4 internal stitches on each site with glue closing up the outside, topped off with some steri-strips that will eventually fall off. Dr B said I should hear from him within a week about the margins. He said my back will scar worse than my stomach and I assured him I don’t mind scars at all, as long as I’m skin cancer-free!
While driving home from the hospital, the foliage seemed to jump out at me. I love Fall in New England!
When I arrived home, my mother-in-law told me to go to a nap (THANK YOU!). While I was resting, I got some flowers from my honey. He is so thoughtful, love him! Flowers always make me smile!! While laying down I caught up on My Fitness Pal tracking and was joined in bed by my sweet, snuffley Jackson.
Jackson made me a “Get Well” card with my MIL, something I will treasure forever! I have a pot roast in the crock pot and can’t wait for dinner!! Sidney has been practicing “walking,” but still hasn’t let go yet. I have a feeling it will be any day now, especially since she hasn’t slept well in days– her brain must be in overdrive, thinking about how to walk!
I’m finishing this up early, around 5pm, because my incisions are starting to ache and I want to relax as a family when my husband gets home from work. Thanks for all the comments on yesterday’s post, I truly appreciate every single one of them! Have you linked up over at Adventuroo yet? She started this fun project and has a new “linky” up every day.
Have a great night!

Those flowers are gorgeous, as are the trees!
I’m so happy to hear your surgery went well. And I’m glad I’m not the only one using My Fitness Pal. Love that app! 😉
SO glad your surgery went well!! xoxo
Hope the little ones and mama feel better soon! We’re fighting the funk around here, too. Gotta love this time of year, the change of seasons and the exchange of germs. Get some rest and enjoy your yummy dinner.
So glad your surgery went well. I hate when they snap those bands on me. So glad to clip them off. And those fall colors are beautiful. That’s one of the things I truly love about not living in my home state. We never really had fall in Central Florida.
So glad you made out OK with the surgery. Hope you heal quickly and the pathology report comes back all clear! XO
I am so glad things went well! I was just going to dm you! So happy for you! Hope you have an easy recovery!That is too cute with the get well card that Jackson did.
Hope your results are negative! Scars are definitely better than cancer. And, your roast looks so yummy.
