My sweet Aunt Suzanne sent us a care package last week, just when I needed it most. It was full of little toys to keep Jackson busy, especially on days like today when I am exhausted. Little jars of playdough, BUB-BLES! (that’s how Jackson pronounces it), water balloons and a kite. A perfect grab bag of entertainment for the little ones!
We did a Target run on Mother’s Day and I stocked up in the dollar section for this summer: sidewalk chalk, a little boat for the pool, balls, a bucket and other various dollar items that can be left at the pool this summer. Today we started out the afternoon by laying down paper across our island, pulling up the Learning Tower and letting Jackson have at it with his washable crayons. He loves to draw and kept talking about DaDa while drawing so I assume he drew it for his Dad. After dinner, the whole family went out to our driveway to use the sidewalk chalk for the first time.
Jackson wasn’t sure of the chalk at first, but got the hang quickly. Despite breaking every piece in half I’d call it a successful activity. He even lucked out with the neighborhood “big kids” catching wind of the fun and coming over to help. He loves playing with his older buddies, I can’t wait until we are in a neighborhood full of kids (hopefully this fall!).
So if you’re looking for ways to keep your toddler entertained this season, head out to your dollar store and pick up all the fun toys to make your days go by tantrum-free. Or if you’re lucky like me you have an Aunt who will send them to you, thanks Suzanne!
