We got very lucky and a really nice couple fell in love with our townhouse a month after we put it on the market and we sold it! Meanwhile, we had found the perfect neighborhood to raise our family on and decided to build. We had looked around at houses for years but never found the right house for us.
Everybody thought we were crazy for building while pregnant/selling a house, etc but we lucked out and had a great experience. Our builder was the opposite of what you think about when you think general contractor. Friendly, honest and finished our house only two weeks from the original finish date. The extra two weeks was beyond his control too with weather and our hardwood floors not wanting to dry, totally not his fault.
Thanks to finding a great mover on Angie’s List, we also lucked out with an awesome moving crew which made our move very easy. We were also blessed that my Mom & Grandma flew up to help and our In-Laws helped out a ton as well. It’s so wonderful to have amazing family! The biggest key to surviving a move this late in pregnancy is HELP, and lots of it. We had great movers who were efficient and friendly and family who took initiative to put stuff away and unpack. I tried to stay off my feet, but they still swelled up like balloons and I started having contractions every 30 minutes after the move. Fortunately, as soon as I went to bed they stopped and haven’t come back since. Letting go of any control was key, I let my family put everything in its place. Guess what? They did a great job! Probably better than I could have done…
So here we are, a week later, almost 80% unpacked and our new house is finally feeling like a home! I’d love to share more pictures with you, but I’m a little weirded out by an Internet creepster so I’m going to hold off on all the pictures for a while. I’ll try to take some pics of the baby’s room soon so you can see how her furniture turned out though.
This is the Binkster’s last Friday as an only child, so I’m a little sad for him. I think these feelings are totally normal, but pregnancy hormones seem to make everything more difficult this late in the game. Baby Girl is scheduled to arrive next Friday, so things are moving along quickly here! I’ll keep you posted on the latest and plan on having my Mom tweet a repeat c-section #twitterbirth for those of you who wake up early 🙂
