One of my first memories of “baby gear love” was before I was even pregnant with my first child. A friend of ours had her one-year-old son in the coolest stroller ever. I knew nothing about strollers, but could tell this one was awesome because the little boy sat up high and wasn’t staring at adults’ knees like other conventional strollers. He loved sitting in his stroller for hours during the party and I knew I would want a stroller like that someday. Turns out his stroller was a Stokke®.
Fast forward 5 years and I finally have a Stokke® stroller! A Stokke® Scoot™, one of the newest strollers to the Stokke® line (first introduced in February 2013).
The Stokke® Scoot™ is a compact stroller that has stolen my heart and become my new “go-to” stroller.
Here are some of the features that help make it my favorite:
- 2 way rear & rear-facing seat that sits up high & can be used in lieu of a high chair while dining out
- easy one-handed folding
- height adjustable handle
- compact & easy to carry
- roomy cargo basket
- protective hood & visor
- sturdy, adjustable footrest that makes it easy for toddlers to climb up
- lockable, swiveling wheels that ride well on different surfaces
- only weighs 22 lbs
- can fit your child from birth to 45 lbs (my son is 33 pounds & almost 4)
- available in 8 stylish colors
My kids are 2 & (almost) 4 and both fit the Scoot™ like a glove. After a quick 5 minute set up, my daughter hopped in and immediately exclaimed “NICE!” In addition to the 2-year-old’s approval, my son insisted on going for a ride. He’ll be 4 in December and doesn’t ride in strollers on a daily basis, however he fit the stroller just fine, even with the canopy down. It must have been pretty comfortable because he didn’t want to let his sister back up!
When I was getting acquainted with our new Scoot™, it lived in our foyer area for a week and I caught the kids “resting” in the seat several times. I love that despite the high seating position, it’s easy for my toddler to climb in and out on her own. How many times have you had to struggle with getting your kids into the stroller with your arms full of shopping bags (or another baby). The adjustable, sturdy foot rest has eliminated that problem for me!
The 5 point harness is also easy to open and close. Easy enough for me to open it with one hand, but not so easy that little toddler hands can open it on their own. I really like that the clips on the harness swivel and avoid the dreaded “twisted strap disorder” so many of my strollers before have suffered from (drives. me. crazy.).
The fabric wipes off easily, which is a must because my kids drink messy drinks like chocolate milk and it seems to stain every piece of fabric in our house. The seat can even be machine washed (honestly, what Mom has the time to hand wash something and why do so many baby things require that?!)
Another feature that I appreciate is an easy brake. I’m a Florida girl at heart and despite harsh New England winters, I live in flip flops all summer and I can’t tell you how many times I’ve managed to hurt myself (or ruin a pedicure) with a tricky stroller brake. The Stokke® Scoot™ has a simple red lever for a brake which can be flipped on & off with any type of footwear.
I know I truly love a stroller when I’ve gotten rid of multiple strollers and consolidated to just my Stokke® Scoot™ & jogging stroller!
