St. Patrick’s Day has always been one of my favorite “party” holidays. When I was in college at Gainesville, St. Patrick’s Day meant getting to The Swamp around 11am and beginning the green beer binge. By closing time, my sorority sisters and I usually were adorned in foam green Bud Light gear and looking a little green around the gills.
Fast forward to today, instead of drinking beer at 10am we were at Rock A Baby where Jackson sang and danced with his buddies. I was hoping to be domestic and have an authentic corned beef & cabbage meal made from scratch for my husband when he got home from a long day at work. Instead, while at the market I got distracted by the pre-made Irish dinners and justified it by telling myself it was less expensive than buying all the meal components from scratch. Hopefully the cupcakes will make up for it 😉
I hope you have a great day, celebrating however you do at this point in your life. You will be able to find us around the dinner table at home. Maybe I will even throw some green milk in there for Jackson.
I’ll leave you with this Irish Blessing, which has special meaning to me since my cousin Russell read it at our wedding.
May the road rise up to meet you.
May the wind always be at your back.
May the sun shine warm upon your face,
and rains fall soft upon your fields.
And until we meet again,
May God hold you in the palm of His hand.
