One of my favorite things about babywearing is that you’re so close to your baby. You can clean the house, go on a hike, shop at Target or go to a football game while enjoying your sweet baby (or toddler). Moms and Dads can get stuff done and the baby is happy, it’s a win-win!
One dilemma I’ve always had with babywearing is staying warm during the winter months. We live in New England. It gets COLD! I’ve tried using my Beco or Ergo with a coat but I can never keep both of us warm. When Jackson was little, I would always put him in the stroller and bundle him up with blankets because I never found a good solution for cold weather babywearing.
Just a few weeks ago, I went pumpkin picking with my friend Heather, from HousewifeHeather.com, on a cold, drizzly day. While I was trying to balance wearing Sidney and protecting us from the rain, Heather whipped out an awesome toga-looking fleece baby carrier cover. With one quick motion she put it over her baby and they all looked warm and toasty while I spent all of my energy keeping Sidney warm and dry. I was totally jealous.
Heather mentioned the Kowalli earlier this year when she bought one for her youngest, who was born in the winter. She loved that Kowalli had written her a nice note mentioning that they loved sending Kowallis to fellow Rhode Island Moms. I wish I would have bought one last Spring because there were many times I couldn’t wear Sidney and keep both of us warm easily. Fortunately, I have one now (thank you, Kowalli!) and am thrilled to be able to use this for another cold New England winter.
I used the Kowalli for the first time last weekend at a Boston College football game. The game started at 1pm, so when we got to the campus at 10am it was still chilly. It took me only an extra 10 seconds to throw on the Kowalli, secure it with the easy toggle and go. Both Sidney & I were warm and snuggly for the rest of the game, especially with the warm fleece pockets on the front. I love wearing vests, so the Kowalli is a perfect fit and allows Sidney to face out, towards me or on my hip while keeping us both warm and my arms free. I love that it is adjustable and my husband could easily use the Kowalli while wearing Sidney.
I’wish I had a Kowalli when Jackson was little!
You can purchase a Kowalli online for only $69 (totally worth it to wear your baby when you would normally be too cold). Kowalli has also generously offered to give a Kowalli Baby Carrier Cover away to a Baby Gators Den reader, just use the widget below to enter. Please check out Kowalli on their web site, Facebook & Twitter pages. Best of luck!
I wear Annalise as often as I can. Pumpkin patch, trick or treating, kids sporting events, shopping, walking the dog. I just like the closeness, but now that it’s getting cold out, we need the warmth!
I love to baby wear. This seems awesome!
I love to babywear and love a reason to snuggle! Would love to have one of these!
To have free arms.
Oh my gosh, I love this! I wear Joseph whenever we’re out somewhere and Stephanie doesn’t want to go in the double stroller. Easier to chase after her when I’m wearing him as opposed to trying to navigate with him in the stroller. 🙂
I LOVE to wear Dominic (10 mo) whenever we go to the store. He loves to be held all the time, and with a 2 1/2 year old who usually likes to walk, it’s one less child for me to keep track of!
Oh my! I want to wear that and I don’t have anymore babies to put in it!
anytime i am cleaning or shopping. it makes things so much easier
I love wearing my little one at Event for my job and on the walk to school with my oldest.
Love baby wearing at the zoo but its starting to get chilly
When I am going for a walk –
I have worn all my babies, but I love being able to participate in activities with my older children, as well as keeping my little ones happy and secure!
With four kids 7 and under, I wear the youngest everywhere — church, park, shopping. Gotta have those hands free for grabbing my 2-year-old! 🙂
I loved wearing my children anywhere but all are a bit old. My daughters coach wears her baby and I would love to win this for her.
I loved wearing these when my kids were little. You look so comfy!
This would be awesome for mornings at the Farmers Market- hands free and warm!
I wear Holden A LOT because it’s hard doing ANYTHING with both the kids. So the grocery store, or really ANY store, the fair, the park…I wear him EVERYWHERE.
Grandmothers will love this also
That is AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I do LOVE mine!! It is great for any type of chilly weather baby wearing!!! Makes it east to take my 3 year old out with out a stroller because I can still keep the baby warm while wearing her…the Kowalli is super easy, fits me or my husband & works perfectly with any carrier!! LOVE it!!!
My youngest is 2. Babywearing is the only way we shop. I sure wish I’d heard ofa Kowalli earlier. I’m definitely going to get one for my new nephew.
I have a 9mo old who would be nice and cozy in a Kowalli. Especially with winter right around the corner. Thanks for the review 🙂
I enjoyed spring/fall walks when it wasn’t too hot and you had that wonderful close feeling!
So, so cute – and practical! Hoping to start trying for a baby in the next few months, and I’ve always wanted to be a baby wearer, so I will absolutely be checking out Kowalli!
I LOVE this, wish I knew about it when mine were younger – but could definitely use it now with Livvy!!
I LOVE my Kowalli!! I’m entering because my sister is jealous of mine and I would love to win her one!! Seriously one of the best babywearing purchases ever. And I live in New England too, so I’ve been using it a lot lately!

Out shopping! I would give this to my sister though. She has a newborn!
I would wearing this when we go out walking and even at our out door mall.
LOVE babywearing while shopping.. Much easier than pushing a stroller around and trying to find elevators in the malls!
I love to wear my little one everywhere! Especially crowded places when I don’t feel like maneuvering a stroller around 🙂
I wear my little guy everywhere. I live in the suburbs of Chicago and we don’t have a car, so I have to walk everywhere. I could use a Kowalli for the cold winters here!
I live in Chicago and I’m due in December. I’ve been wondering how I would babywear during the cold months. This is great.
I love wearing him everywhere just like his sister before him! Will be wearing him to vote today!
