After reading her reviews for the past few months I decided to subscribe for April’s box. At $35/box it isn’t a “cheap” subscription like Ipsy or Birchbox but it seemed worth it by the past month’s contents.
Then I unpacked my beautifully packed PopSugar Must Have box for the first time and my first thought was “REALLY?”
I’m not going to even separate each item to try to make it look nice and fancy, because in my opinion it wasn’t worth it! This also the first subscription service that I’ve ever canceled after the first month, I usually give them at least 3 chances to wow me.
Here’s what was included in my Must Haves.
Alter Eco Dark Quino Chocolate: This was a good candy bar, think a Nestle Crisp, quinoa style with dark chocolate. It was actually so good that after my dog found the bar and started licking it, my neighbor and I carefully broke off the rest and ate those parts. I’ll buy this candy bar again. ($3.99)
Kai Perfume Oil: Apparently Jennifer Aniston and Reese Witherspoon wear this but it gave me a headache within 30 seconds. It’s a super flowery scent and not my style. I’m trying to pawn it off on friends but they keep nicely rejecting it also. ($48)
Shashi New Nugget Bracelet: This was probably my favorite item in the box but I was still “meh” about it. It will probably live at the bottom of my jewelry armoire unless one of my friends wants it. ($28)
Tatacha Petal Fresh Evening Aburatorigami Beauty Papers: Say that name 1o times fast… more blotting papers? I feel like every subscription box in the world (or at least the ones I subscribed to) send these every month. Hopefully I will use them this summer but I have a feeling they will be torn to shreds by my 17-month-old within the week. ($12)
Green Garmento Four-in-One Reusable Dry-Cleaning Bag: Wait, what? Aren’t these monthly boxes supposed to be fun, “must-have” treats? There is nothing I “must have” about a dry cleaning bag. No freaking way. This was the clincher for me to cancel this subscription because getting sent a dry cleaning bag was no fun. I’m a stay at home mom haunted my laundry 24/7, no way I want to pay $35/month for a reminder. ($12.99)
Total “value”: $104.98
Verdict: CANCEL. The only thing I would actually like/use from this box is the chocolate bar. You know it’s good chocolate if you’ll eat it after a dog licked the bar.
*Disclosure: I purchased this box on my own and just wanted to share my opinion with you*
