There are some blogs that make me laugh so hard I wake up the kids. Or snort wine through my nose. Amber Dusick’s blog, crappypictures.com, is one of those. Here are a couple of my favorite posts from her blog:
- THE UPPERS & DOWNERS OF PARENTING (OR, COFFEE & WINE) (this needs no description except for coffee & wine)
- GOING VIRAL, THE PUKING KIND…ILLUSTRATED WITH CRAPPY PICTURES™ (describes my house perfectly when we all get sick with a cold/man cold/toddler man cold)
- SHOPPING AT TARGET® (because you go in for a gallon of milk and come out with everything else you never knew you needed, except for the milk)
When Amber let all of her readers know that she was writing a book “Parenting: Illustrated with Crappy Pictures,” I knew that I needed to own a copy. This book will make you feel like you’re not alone in this crazy world of parenting and I challenge you to read it without laughing out loud. Just don’t wake up your kids, or else.
Moms and Dads alike will be able to relate with the topics Amber addresses: Remember what it was like to sleep before kids (sigh)? How about feeding a toddler (otherwise known as stuffing your dog full of the baby’s food)? Her chapter on sleeping with a baby and a toddler brought me right back to the days of sleeping with a baby foot in my face and a husband who wouldn’t hear a baby cry if his life depended on it. Her “crappy” illustrations are spot on and will make you chuckle.
“Parenting: Illustrated with Crappy Pictures” is a great gift for a fellow parent of young children, or to enjoy by yourself while soaking in a hot tub with a nice glass of wine (good luck with that, I’m totally jealous of you if you can pull that one off).
Buy a copy at your local bookstore or on Amazon: it’s available now with a suggested retail price of $16.95 but was available for even less when I checked Amazon at the time this post was published.
*I received a copy of the book for review purposes but all opinions are my own.
