Since I wasn’t able to go to BlogHer this week, I was able to spend the week with my Mom who was in town from Florida. She was originally coming up to watch the toddler while I was in San Diego, but since my travel plans changed I was able to spend a week with my Mama! The last few times she has come up it has been hard work (moving, etc) so it was nice to relax and enjoy her company.
We had a jam packed week: picking out things for the new house, ordering nursery furniture for Baby Girl, trips to the Zoo and getting a sneak peek of her on a 3d/4d ultrasound.
We ended up picking out the “Savannah” nursery collection by Munire. It was exactly what I had pictured for our little girl’s nursery: feminine and sweet.
We also found the perfect chandelier to place above the glider in her nursery.
After picking out her super-girly furniture, I couldn’t wait to get our 3d ultrasound and make sure she was a girl. When we started telling people the news of expecting a little girl, everyone and their brother had a story about how their friend/sister/cousin was told they were having a girl and out popped a little boy. Of course I would be thrilled to have a little boy but I don’t think he would appreciate the furniture 😉
Our ultrasound was pretty interesting. It started out by the place running 30 minutes and never really communicating anything to us. While we were waiting in the waiting room with another family, a Dad busted out of the ultrasound room doors all kinds of angry with his girlfriend/wife behind yelling at him for being on the verge of tears.
He was REALLY upset that they were having a little girl. Turns out it was the Mom-to-be’s birthday and she didn’t seem too phased that this guy was having an all out tantrum while kicking tires and banging his head against the car because he was going to have a daughter. I’m guessing he must be a jerk every other day of the year as well.
When it was finally our time we got to see our little girl on the big screen she was moving all around, waving her hands and yawning. For the first time, I think Jackson understood he was going to have a baby sister. He talked to the big screen of his sister while saying baby and saying a bunch of other things in his alien dialect we don’t understand. When the ultrasound tech confirmed she was definitely a little girl I felt as though I could relax a little.
Unfortunately, we didn’t get any “fabulous” pics but at least you can see her chubby cheeks and rosebud lips! The picture below is of me, see any resemblance?
Also, just because I like to compare pics, here is a pic of my sweet boy at 26 weeks:
