I finally have a free minute to myself. Probably the first in over 10 days. The kids are napping, hubby is golfing and my mom has safely returned to Florida after taking excellent care of my babies while I was at BlogHer. I am still digesting BlogHer so I’m not going to do a novel length recap post at this time, but you have to know that it was an amazing experience despite a few minor bumps in the road. You can read about a few of them in this funny post by my roommate Veronica. I promise you will laugh.
I firmly believe your life experience is what you make it: it can be as easy or as hard as you want it to be. I’ve read some bloggers’ complaints about this and that: too many people, too crowded, bla bla blah. I decided early on that I was going to have a great time in NYC for the 4 days with friends and fellow bloggers. You know what? I did. It was a fabulous experience, starting off with an amazing session by Adorama on photography at “Blographer“. There were inspiring speakers, some who I was already a fan of and others who I am now a fan of, and really cool “swag” by some wonderful vendors. Huge thank you to Adorama for a great day, I am now a loyal Adorama fan for all of my photography needs!
My long time friend and sorority sister, Akemi of TeetheMe, was in town for BlogHer and I had the best time hitting up NYC with her. It was like the old days at UF when we somehow found ourselves in Times Square with an NYPD office stopping traffic and making an off-duty cabbie drive us home. We laughed with our new friend @HipMamaB and got a kick when she tweeted about our adventure.
My kids were thrilled (well, just the toddler) when I came home with giant bags of toys for him to play with, thanks to The Big Toy Book’s “Sweet Suite” party:
One of my favorite parts of BlogHer this year was the group of tight-knit bloggers from Rhode Island, the Rhody Bloggers. It felt like NYC was home being able to hang out with these lovely women:
Jen from Keekoin
Megan from A Baby Makes Four
Liz from Learning to Juggle
Kameron from My Wrinkle in Time
Jessica from 30 Something Mother Runner
Melissa from The Mommyhood Chronicles
Candice from The New Modern Mom
Sarah from Soxys Diamond
Jodi from BlushMamas
Elizabeth from Documama
Catherine from Twins with Tots
Audrey from Mom Generations
Sarah from Sweet Lil You
Melissa from Filling our Bucket
Liza from Cira’s Lyrics
A handful of the Rhody Bloggers out to dinner…
I had the opportunity to party with local toy company, Hasbro, get gorgeous with the awesome folks from CVS Beauty Club at Getting Gorgeous and numerous other networking events. I will highlight some of my favorite people and companies in future posts, but for now this is all of the energy I can muster up after a severe lack of sleep (approximately 3 hours/night).
All in all, BlogHer was AMAZING. I am so blessed to have been able to surround myself with a diverse group of top bloggers and spend time with the Rhody Blogger ladies.
Were you at BlogHer too? I’d love to read your post about your experience, so please leave a comment with your link!! xo

3 Days Left

BlogHer really was what you made of it, just like anything in life – I am so glad that we all decided to make it the best weekend we could!! I love reading everyone’s happy posts about it – makes me smile knowing we all had so much fun…now if there was some secret to recovering from such a good weekend away!!
And I should add that you are a better mom than I – my kids have gotten their hands on the Kids Bop CD and thats it – everything else is tucked away until christmas

This is why our group of girls rocks! We all managed to find the happy in our experience instead of dwelling on the blah parts! I had a blast and look forward to our next Rhody girls get-together!
