Yesterday you turned 5 months old. I can’t believe you’re already such a little lady. You’re still full of smiles but you’ve picked up many new skills in the past month. You can sit up (with a little support), reach your toes, hold your own bottle, blow bubbles, roll both ways and jump a ton in your jumperoo.
You’ve also given us quite the health scare in the past month too. I’d be totally fine if we never had to visit the Hasbro emergency room again! We see the Pediatric ENT doctor tomorrow so (hopefully) we will get to the root of your “happy wheezing” problem. Other than that little issue, you’re perfect!
I would guess you’re around 14.5/15 pounds and probably somewhere around 25 inches. Most of your clothes are 6, 6-9 months although your torso is too long for many of them. Your hair is lightening up and falling out too. Will you be a blonde like Jackson and me? Your eyes look like they will stay blue like Dad’s, but I’m secretly rooting for them to be green like mine.
Dr M. suggested we start solids with you at 4 months, but I’ll admit it: I wasn’t ready. That is just another sign that you’re speeding away from baby status. My plan was to wait until 6 months, but every parent knows that a parenting plan never goes as you’d like. Just the other day, I was carrying a chocolate chip muffin in one hand and you on my hip when you grabbed the muffin and took a bite before I could stop you. A muffin-eating baby ninja. The evidence was all over your face and shirt, smeared with chocolate. I started solids the next day (organic brown rice cereal) and you took to it very well. Much more than Jackson did. Looks like you have my love of eating!
You’re still a laid back, smiley girl and you know how to light up a room with your infectious smile. You’re sleeping well, although you’re usually stuck in the Nap Nanny sleeping elevated while fighting off congestion. You sleep almost the entire night, usually waking up around 4am to eat but you go right back to sleep.
Dad, Jackson & I love you so much. You’re so much fun to be around, thanks baby girl!
All my love,
