To my baby girl,
Today* you are one month old! I can’t believe it- it has been the fastest month of my life. You came into this world and completed our family. Your sweet nature is a joy to be around. Since day one, you have been a relaxed, happy-go-lucky baby. You only cry if you’re starving or your binky happens to drop out of your mouth. Except for a blocked tearduct/goopy eye, you’ve been perfectly healthy– not even a hint of jaundice at the hospital either!
For the first 3 weeks of your life, you slept a lot and woke up only to eat and then went right back to a peaceful slumber. In the past week you’ve spent much more time with your eyes wide open, taking in your new world. Nothing phases you: from your dog Rex barking to your brother testing his lungs with a high pitched squeal that can be heard miles away.
When you were born, I was surprised by the amount of thick, dark hair you had. You were the opposite of your big brother, who was practically bald with tiny traces of blonde hair. Your first cries were music to Dad’s & my ears. You scored well on your first “test” with APGAR scores of 9 and 9. When I was finally allowed to hold you, 45 minutes after your birth in the C-section recovery room, you took to nursing like a pro. We were a match made for each other from the beginning.
Thank you for being a dream baby. People always scare you into believing your second baby will be harder than your first– you’ve proven this theory wrong. Your brother is just as in love with you as Dad & me. From day one he has taken you under his wing, smothering you in kisses and always checking on his “baby sissy {sister}” and saying “HI BABY {loudly}!” It warms my heart to know you will have each other for the rest of your lives.
Your first month has been wonderful. I can’t wait for us to do so many fun mother/daughter things in the future, but I wish I could push the slow down button on life right now. You and your brother are growing up too fast…
I’ll love you always,
Mama
