Happy Valentine’s Day! Greg gave me his latest letter to Jackson & I thought today would be a perfect day to post it. Hope your day is filled with lots of love & candy!
Wow, how fast you are growing up. I apologize for the delay in this letter to you. You are now over 14 months old and have grown into quite the little toddler. Over the last few months, you have accomplished so many things. From sitting up on your own, to crawling, standing up and now just about over a month ago, you started to walk!! Before you finally “let go” and started to walk with 2 feet, you used to push your grocery carts all over the house to get somewhere. You were very talented at it and I knew it was just a matter of time before you “let go” of the carts and were free. Now you’re all over the place. It’s really amazing how fast you’re going without anything or anyone helping you. I’m very proud of you.
I also want to share with you the very special weekend you and I had this past January 2011. Your mother, Joanna, whom has done a fabulous job with teaching you almost everything you know, needed a weekend to herself. She and a bunch of her closest girl friends decided to spend the weekend away from the husbands and kids. As a result, it was just us 3 boys (You, Rex and Daddy), for the whole weekend. Several relatives and friends thought it could be crazy in our household that weekend without Mom around, however, we all survived and had so much fun together! You see, Daddy spends half his week at work and unfortunately misses out on hanging out all day together, taking you to RockABaby and other classes. That weekend in January was our time together. Just us boys! And boy did we have fun!
Once the ladies left for the weekend, it was all fun and games! We played Friday night, had a great breakfast on Saturday morning, filled with some errands and then the highlight of the weekend was a trip up to the Heights to see OUR Boston College Eagles taken on Georgia Tech in basketball. I was a little worried on the ride up to BC, since you hadn’t napped all day (You normally nap twice a day for around 3 hours total). But you were excellent! We met Daddy’s friend, Dr Joe C., at the game and he as well as other season ticket holders were impressed at not only how well mannered you were, but at how interested in the game you were as well. This was such a special day for both of us! Daddy is the lone BC “SuperFan” in the entire family and well, it was gratifying to have you spend the day with me at my alma mater. It was a great game and came down to the wire, but in the end BC prevailed 86-75. Besides getting the win, the highlight of the day came when You and I were on the Jumbotron together. So cool!! After the game we headed home, you talked the entire ride home about how much fun you had. We got home, changed and went to bed. Sunday morning was the same routine, eating and lots of playing together. Mom came home later that afternoon and we were happy that she had a relaxing weekend with her friends. A big successful weekend for everyone!
I know that weekend in January won’t be the only time it’s just Jackson and Daddy. But being the first time, it was Awesome and I’ll never forget it! Thanks for being such a great son! You make me very poud! I can’t wait for more adventures together. I love you Jackson.
