The word that filled my mind when I walked into my local La-Z-Boy Furniture Galleries was “WOW.” I was greeted by stylish, hip furniture that I would have never thought I could find at a La-Z-Boy. When I used to the hear La-Z-Boy name, I used to think about my grandpa’s comfortable recliner. Now I know La-Z-Boy has an entire line of stylish, affordable, and completely customizable stationary furniture.
I have been on the hunt for a new addition to my playroom: a sleeper sofa that will make a full-sized bed when folded out. Although we have a guest room in our house, there have been times when I have multiple people staying at our home and I needed more space for guests. I’m not a huge fan of air mattresses because I always wake up on a deflated bed. I have no idea why, but I can never keep the crazy things inflated for more than a few hours. Nothing says hospitality like waking up on an airless-air mattress.
My experience at La-Z-Boy has completely changed my outlook on furniture shopping. I used to dread going into a furniture store because I felt like the salespeople would stalk us around the store, waiting to pounce on their prey (us). La-Z-Boy was completely different: helpful consultants who were not agressive and were there to actually consult us, not just sell us whatever they could.
I loved that the consultants wanted to know what I was looking for and took the time to map out the room and talk about what was important to me. We discussed what our furniture style was and the design consultant even offered to visit my home for a free in-home design visit (which I REALLY could have used while building this house last year). Before I visited the showroom, I looked at their web site and narrowed down my choice to a few different styles of sleepers. The consultant listened to what I was saying and actually took me to the 3 sleepers I had chosen online (I hadn’t told him I stalked their web site for hours).
I ended up choosing the Leah sleeper because I liked the sleek lines and how it would match with the rest of my home’s style. Once I chose the style of sleeper, I got to pick the fabric. La-Z-Boy has over 900 different styles of fabrics and 100 varieties of leather, so I could have spent all day looking at them. Fortunately, I told the consultant what I was looking for and he showed me the section he thought I would like. Sure enough, I quickly found the perfect color and texture for our playroom then I chose a fun, bold pattern for our pillows.
Another awesome feature of La-Z-Boy showrooms is that you can see exactly what you chose on a big screen monitor. It was helpful to see the fabric I chose on the exact style of couch, complete with my funky pillow fabric choice. I should be getting our new sleeper in 6-8 weeks (La-Z-Boy is manufactured in the USA) and I can’t wait to finish my playroom update! I fell in love with a few other pieces at La-Z-Boy, namely a really cool entryway piece that had a bench, coat hooks, and hidden message boards. I would love to find a place for that in my foyer!
I will update as soon as our new La-Z-Boy sleeper arrives. In the mean time, here’s a picture of the playroom wall where our new sleeper will live. The two orange chairs will probably go on the other side of the room.
