I see lots of pink in our future. This past week has been amazing. It started out last week with Good Morning America talking with me about being on their gender reveal show that was supposed to air this morning. Long story short, we didn’t think it was going to happen because their senior producers weren’t sure they wanted to make the drive up to Rhode Island to interview us before our segment aired. We were a little disappointed because we thought revealing the new baby’s gender on national television would be awesome- all of our friends and family could find out simultaneously!
Fast forward to yesterday and we closed on the lot for the new house we are building. Major excitement because we are finally building our family home! We hope to be in by my birthday weekend mid-September.
This morning was our anatomy ultrasound. I was nervous. Nervous because Jackson had a choroid plexus cyst on his brain that was found during his big ultrasound. Every parent just prays for a healthy baby and hopes nothing bad is found at the anatomy ultrasound.
On the way to the appointment, I treated myself to a coffee roll and Dunkin Donuts Iced Coffee (FULL caff!) in order to help wake the baby up. When we began the ultrasound, she was being tough. Not positioned ideally, legs closed, the whole shebang. I wasn’t sure we would be able to find out the gender today. The most important part was all of the measurements, of course. Everything measured perfectly and no cysts! I feel we are so blessed with a baby that appears to be healthy. About 45 minutes into the appointment our ultrasound tech looked between the legs again. I didn’t see any boy parts but waited until she showed me the “three lines” confirming that the new baby is a SHE!
I’m elated to have a daughter but most importantly, a healthy baby. We called everyone on the way home with the great news and our family is thrilled. Greg watched Jackson and I took a quick trip to the outlet mall to hit up the Carter’s for girl clothes (at the ultrasound tech’s recommendation of course). When I walked into Carter’s, I instinctually turned right to the boy clothes. It was exciting to finally be able to look at both little boy AND little girl clothes!
After my quick shopping excursion, I checked my iPhone and to my surprise there was an email from the Good Morning America producer. They decided that they wanted us on the show and were going to come up to Rhode Island to interview us. Could we come down to NYC next week to be in the studio? I wrote back and thanked them for the offer, but unfortunately they were a day late! Funny how timing works sometimes, isn’t it? So we don’t get to reveal the new baby’s gender on national television, but finding out we are having a daughter in the doctor’s office was just as thrilling. The next step is getting Jackson prepared to have a little sister!
