Today we met with part of the Feeding Team, the Clinical Psychologist. Although she was running a little behind, she was very nice and we started out the appointment like we always do: Jackson in a high chair eating. I didn’t think to bring foods he doesn’t like because it is always so hit or miss with him, but I brought his favorites: goldfish, a toddler fruit roll up thing and a squeeze packet of fruit.
He ate well, in fact the best he has ever eaten at Hasbro. The doctor even noted he was in a much better mood than the last time she saw him. I don’t remember him being cranky, but I suppose as parents of toddlers we can ignore those behaviors.
I didn’t learn anything terribly exciting today. It was just a follow up/weight check appointment one month after our first feeding team appointment and two weeks after our last OT appointment. The exciting news of the day was he is getting taller! He is up to the whopping 13.23 percentile for height at 31.06 inches. He has made a tiny gain for weight, up from 20.2 pounds to 20.24 pounds, which puts him in the 0.92 percentile. Still a peanut, just becoming a taller peanut.
Jackson loved the appointment because Hasbro has a great children’s book program where you get a new book at every appointment. Today he picked out the “Cars” book and it kept him happily entertained while we waited to be seen. We go back in two weeks to see the Occupational Therapist again and I’m hoping we will be nearing the end of treatment. I feel much better knowing he is healthy, just not a big eater! We’ve learned some really helpful tips to get more calories into his diet and I feel it has helped.
I’ll keep you updated! Until then, Jackson will be enjoying one of his diet staples: Mint Milano cookies.
