I have HUGE news! We have an eater now, as Borat would say, it’s a “great success!” It as though a light switch turned on now and he likes to eat. I believe it is because he isn’t teething right now, so he must have a very low pain threshold to refuse food when his mouth aches. The feeding team and OT also helped, but I think the reason he wasn’t eating for the past 9-10 months was simply that his mouth hurt.
The Jackson will start out the morning asking for milk and promptly suck it down while lounging in his crib while we get ready in the morning. He’ll then eat some cereal or breakfast bar or if he is really lucky, hash browns from Dunkin Donuts!
For snacks he eats a ton of Organic Annie’s Bunny Fruit Snacks and any flavor of Goldfish, especially the flavor-blasted kinds. He could polish off a bag of Salt & Vinger potato chips and/or Doritos too. I know, these aren’t the healthiest options, but when you’re trying to get any calories you can you’ll do desperate things. The good news is that he also loves fresh veggies and will ask for bites of veggies off my salad, including baby corn, cucumber and green pepper. He is also a big fan of fruit and could eat an entire watermelon if we allowed him.
For lunch and dinner he is eating everything under the sun, favorites include soft tacos, mac & cheese, hamburger and whatever bites he can get from Mom & Dad’s plates.
We are keeping up with the PediaSure and Carnation Instant Breakfast for now because he has a lot of catching up to do, but I’m so relieved that my little man enjoys eating and snacking now. At this next pediatrician appointment, in December for his 2 year well baby visit, I will update you all with his weight gain For now, I’m thrilled to have one less thing to worry about as a Mama.
