First off, thanks to everyone for reaching out to make sure we were ok in Sandy’s wake. We are fortunate to not have any damage, but I feel sick over everyone’s loss in NY & NJ. I’m sending lots of prayers their way and hope relief comes soon.
Since the last week was all about Sandy, it appears today is officially “Day of the Doctors.” It started off with a call from Dr B. (the plastic surgeon) regarding my skin cancer surgery. He said that the pathology report stated the mole on my back still had some weird cells (not the technical term, I can’t remember his exact words because I have a 1 & 2 year old) but he removed it with clear margins. The mole on my stomach had been completely removed by my dermatologist’s biopsy, so I will just follow up with him to monitor my skin closely. Good to go in the skin department right now.
However, for the past 2 nights Sidney kept us up all night long crying. She couldn’t be consoled and didn’t want to nurse. It was a rough night so when my left ear was KILLING me this morning a light bulb went off: she had an ear infection! Duh. I don’t know why I didn’t think of that before, but our pediatrician got us in and she confirmed my suspicion: Sidney’s right ear was infected and her little throat raw. We came home with a 10 day supply of amoxocillin for Sidney girl and I’m starting a Z-pack for my sick left ear.

Pinterest comes in so handy… mark your Rx bottle with the correct amount of doses so you don’t lose track!
I cannot wait for my crew to get healthy and out of this house again. I’ve got some serious cabin fever! Jackson is now playing “Doctor Jackson” and all of our stuffed animals have been getting lots of exams, thanks to the doctor kit we picked up at Target.
I also wanted to let you know about a REALLY cool app that is now one of my favs. It’s called FreePrints and lets you order FREE 4×6 prints, right from your iPhone/iPad/iPod touch. I LOVE this app because I have family (i.e. my mother-in-law) that is always asking for hard copies of pictures that I post on my blog or Facebook. I almost never order prints because it would entail uploading my prints to another site and who has that kind of time as a Mom? FreePrints makes it incredibly simple to order prints and have it shipped to anyone. For example, my Gaga lives in an assisted living facility and I try to send her something in the mail once a week. With FreePrints I just select a bunch of pictures on my iPhone/Facebook/Instagram, etc and have them delivered directly to her. FreePrints makes is very simple, even allowing you to select a shipping address from your contacts. Easy peasy.
You can download FreePrints in the iTunes store for free. You will get 1,000 free 4×6 prints per year (85/month) and have the option of buying other size prints for a really reasonable fee. Shipping & handling starts at $1.99 and is never more than $9.99.
Give it a try, you know your Grandma would LOVE getting some pictures!
I’ve done that to the medicine bottle. I see you have your own Doc McStuffins.
We are BIG fans of Doc McStuffins 🙂
OMG I love that idea for the medicine bottle. Last winter when Stephanie was on antibiotics I could never keep track of her doses. I’m so sorry to hear that poor Sidney girl is sick (and you too!) At least there is a reason for her night waking though…hopefully once the meds kick in she’ll go back to sleeping through for you. Sending healthy vibes your way!
I can barely remember to take my own vitamin so medicine 2x/day for 10 days is way above my capabilities without writing it down!
Hope you and Sidney are feeling better much soon! Cute pic of Jackson playing doctor!
Thanks Jane!!
That should be *feeling much better soon!
That is an awesome app! I am so glad you figured it out! Zane had something similar last year- and it was an ear infection! Glad she is doing better and you guys are doing great!
Ughh that’s so brutal. Sending some virtual hugs because that’s a lot to handle. Happy your skin is okay too but what a saga ;-/
Thanks friend! XOXO
