My husband works with a great group of people. Besides being the ones who essentially set us up six years ago, they have been like family for us- especially Jackson. For Christmas, they gave Jackson a gift card to Build A Bear. Since we were snowed in all weekend, I decided we should take a trip to the closest Build A Bear workshop today. Post-holiday clean up can always wait. It slipped my mind that it was school vacation week and the mall would be swarming with pajama-clad teenagers in UGG boots, but we survived.
We safely dodged the gangs of teens to the safety of the second floor Build A Bear. Jackson’s eyes lit up when he saw the walls and bins of animals.
He started barking when he saw the soft tan dog and scooped him out of the bin. The girls at Greg’s office knew he loved dogs and thought he would love building his own (they were definitely right!). We went down the bear assembly line and Jackson loved putting a heart into his dog and watching it come to life at the stuffing machine. When the lady sewing up the dog asked what Jackson was going to name it, he told her “Bark.”
He also insisted on holding the box for the rest of the trip, which made for an interesting time getting his feet measured at Stride Rite. As soon as we got home, Jackson took Bark to his room to take their first nap together.
Please say a prayer that Rex doesn’t decide he’s a chew toy and “de-fluff” him, for that would make one little toddler very heartbroken…
