I am very sorry this letter is late. We celebrated your 7 month birthday by spending the day flying to Raleigh, North Carolina. I think that is much more fun than your 6 month birthday where you got 3 shots! We spent the night in Raleigh then drove 3 hours to the mountains to visit with all of your Douglas family. Grandma and Grandpa Z flew up from Florida and your cousins drove from all over the south: Florida, Tennessee and North Carolina. We met at a place your Gee Gee and Poppy rented for us and spent 7 days laughing, playing and enjoying family. You loved hanging out with 10 month old cousin Brantly and 14 month old Natalie! We spent days poolside, skipping naps and nights playing games and eating with family. You were wonderful all week and didn’t even skip a beat being thrown off your schedule. Mom and Dad are so proud of how well you travel! You completed your 3rd round trip flight!
This past 5 weeks you have started talking! You started saying Mama on the plane to Raleigh and haven’t quit since. I’m not sure you are always referring to me, but you are very proud of your new word. I’m sure all of the people on the Southwest flight heard you say your new word too, you made sure of it! I think you will be saying Dada any day now. You also tend to talk louder when others start talking, you just want to be heard!
You have become a wonderful eater also. You’re polishing off entire bottles of baby food and even open up your mouth like a baby bird for us to shovel it in faster. You’ve also discovered it makes more sense to let Mom & Dad feed you rather than trying to grab the spoon every bite. You’re drinking out of a sippy cup now and are rarely using a bottle. Your favorite food is avocado and your least favorite meal is the Earth’s Best “Apple Yogurt Oatmeal.” Honestly I don’t blame you on that one.
You also have become a swimmer! We have started swimming classes at the JCC in Providence and you enjoy them. The instructor even called you a natural for your propensity of kicking on your own in the water. We also start tot gym tomorrow with your friends Ella, Calliope & Iliana. You have a busy schedule each week with book babies, swimming & tot gym! A babe on the go!
You’re sleeping well and nap 2-3 times a day in your own crib. We had to pack your beloved Lamby swing away because you were being a daredevil and trying to leap out. You’re still sleeping upstairs in your pack and play and wake up 1-3 times per night to nurse.
We also think you will be crawling any day, you can get yourself around now but only backwards. You’ve grown into more of a little boy and watching you sleep on your stomach now only makes you more of a little man. You’re growing up so fast I can’t believe my eyes. Thanks for being such a sweet little person to spend my days with.
I’ll love you forever,
