100 Things You Didn’t Know About Me

Yikes, 100 things is a lot but my friend Carla started this and I decided to play alongl Here we go:

1. I was born in Prestonsburg, Kentucky
2. I had a birthmark (hemangioma) on my nose until I was 5 years old & it went away on its own
3. My parents were high school sweethearts but split up when I was 3 weeks old
4. We moved back to Florida when that happened
5. I didn’t talk until I was 2ish, then I started speaking in full sentences
6. I still remember speech therapy from that time
7. I was legally adopted by my “Dad” in elementary school
8. I had 4 older step-brother and step-sisters from his first marriage
9. I skipped kindergarten (almost got sent back though because I had a hard time grasping reading(
10. I went to the same private school from 1st-12th grade (22 seniors, 13 had been together since 1st grade)
11. I went to school with 2 of my best friends, I’ve known them 27 years
12. They were 2 of my bridesmaids
13. I’ve been a computer geek since I got my first Apple IIC at 4 years old
14. I was obsessed with Nintendo & my parents had to take it away because I turned into a monster
15. I would sleep with my keyboard because I loved my computer so much
16. I always won the “computer award” in school every year
17. I once ran up a $900 AOL bill, not realizing that we were billed by the minute (was living with my Dad at the time)
18. I always wanted a pony but my parents always said no
19. I went away to tennis camp at Nick Bolletteiri for summers as a kid
20. I loved playing tennis and swimming on our club’s swim team every summer
21. I went to Outward Bound and lived in the woods for weeks as a 15 year old. No showers. Nothing.
22. It changed me forever and turned me into a leader.
23. I thought I was going to die (seriously) and mailed my Mom many letters apologizing for being a brat.
24. I took 3 years of latin in middle school
25. I took 2 years of french in high school
26. I don’t really remember any of it
27. My favorite subject in school was English
28. My least favorite was Math, in fact I had to get tutored in it starting in elementary school
29. I played basketball and softball in high school (not every year though)
30. My Grandparents bought a farm when I was 12 and gave me my first pony
31. I became horse-obsessed and rode until I graduated college
32. I rode on the University of Florida Equestrian Team
33. I loved show jumping horses, but would usually get so nervous I’d puke before a show
34. The only reason I don’t ride now is because I can’t afford a horse!
35. I still miss my horse
36. My horse Dewey was blind in one eye
37. I was involved in theatre in high school, but only on a Public Relations basis (which turned out to be my degree)
38. I won awards for my P.R. in high school for the Thespians
39. I regret how I treated my Mom as a teenager, wish I could take all the brattiness back
40. I got my sweet dog, Lambchop, as a 16th birthday present
41. I’ve always loved cars
42. My high school boyfriend once gave me a souped up muffler and I thought it was the best gift ever
43. My parents made fun of me for wanting a muffler
44. I also spent all of my money on speakers for my Honda Accord
45. Many family members worked in the car business and I thought that is what I would do
46. I spent a summer filing in the attic of my Grandpa’s Cadillac dealership. It was hot.
47. I had braces twice and wouldn’t smile as a kid before them because I didn’t like my teeth
48. I married a dentist- ironic, huh?
49. I have a half-sister from my biological dad (she’s 13, wonderful and my only bio-sibling)
50. The University of Florida was the only college I applied to (seems crazy to me now!)
51. I didn’t know anyone when my parents dropped me off at UF for summer session my freshman year (8,000 freshmen)
52. I’m still friends with my dorm roommate & we ended up joining the same sorority
53. I joined Zeta Tau Alpha my freshman year and am so glad for the sisterhood
54. My step-sisters were ADPi’s and Tri-Delts
55. My Mom didn’t go to college, but insisted I did and wanted me to rush a sorority
56. I’m glad she (kind of) forced me to rush
57. I thought I wanted to be a veterinarian
58. Until I took an organic chemistry class and realized I was better suited for public relations
59. I lived in the athlete’s dorm my freshman year
60. Some of the guys who lived on my floor still play in the NFL
61. I bar tended at a place called “Cluck U Chicken” for a couple of years
62. We served $5 all you can drink beer. It was a blast (and good money!)
63. I once ate pizza for 40 days in a row (Papa Johns was next to Cluck U)
64. I was Judicial Chair for my sorority
65. I was quarterback for the ZTA flag football team
66. I’m not a morning person
67. I have half of my MBA finished. Someday I will get to the other half!
68. I moved to Rhode Island in 2005
69. I accepted a job with Pfizer and they relocated me to Providence
70. I met my husband through work
71. His office staff pretty much set us up!
72. We got engaged in our townhouse and he had Lambchop bring me the ring & Rex bring me flowers
73. We were married in my hometown of St. Petersburg, Florida
74. We honeymooned in Maui
75. I like to golf, but only if I can drink beer while playing
76. I can shotgun a beer faster than most men (pretty good at beer pong too )
77. I haven’t heard from my Dad (the one who adopted me) since April 2011. I decided I would see how long it took him to call me. Still waiting.
78. I haven’t spoken to my StepMom (adopted Dad’s wife) since December of 2004. That’s a good thing.
79. People say my Mom looks like my sister. She totally does
80. I always thought my daughter would be blonde. She has auburn hair and I can’t imagine her any other way
81. I’m very close to my biological father’s family, his father (my Grandpa Jack) walked me down the aisle at our wedding
82. I bought our dog, Rex, on the internet. He is actually twice what he was supposed to weigh.
83. I wasn’t sure I would enjoy having kids
84. Being a mother is the best thing ever, I can’t imagine my life without our kids
85. I never imagined I would feel as strongly about breastfeeding as I do
86. Same goes for car seat safety
87. I NEVER thought I would WANT to own a minivan
88. I love Facebook for being able to reconnect with lost friends and family
89. I hate Facebook because it shows the ugly, braggy, whiney side of some people
90. I’d love to skydive, but never will because I know 2 people who have died from it & I want to be here for my kids as long as possible
91. I’m totally addicted to technology, particularly all Apple products (pining for an iMac at the moment)
92. I wish I was trained in graphic design besides the couple of courses I took at UF
93. I wish I knew CSS as well as my designer Sarah
94. I love living in Rhode Island and don’t miss Florida, just the people in it
95. I’m blessed with amazing friends
96. My family might be crazy, but they’re wonderful
97. I believe that you get what you give in life
98. I also believe that everything happens for a reason
99. I believe in God, but I don’t think you have to go to a church to have a relationship with him
100. I’m happier than I ever knew was possible. Thank you God & universe!
