Yikes, 100 things is a lot but my friend Carla started this and I decided to play alongl Here we go:
- I was born in Prestonsburg, Kentucky
- I had a birthmark (hemangioma) on my nose until I was 5 years old & it went away on its own
- My parents were high school sweethearts but split up when I was 3 weeks old
- We moved back to Florida when that happened
- I didn’t talk until I was 2ish, then I started speaking in full sentences
- I still remember speech therapy from that time
- I was legally adopted by my “Dad” in elementary school
- I had 4 older step-brother and step-sisters from his first marriage
- I skipped kindergarten (almost got sent back though because I had a hard time grasping reading(
- I went to the same private school from 1st-12th grade (22 seniors, 13 had been together since 1st grade)
- I went to school with 2 of my best friends, I’ve known them 27 years
- They were 2 of my bridesmaids
- I’ve been a computer geek since I got my first Apple IIC at 4 years old
- I was obsessed with Nintendo & my parents had to take it away because I turned into a monster
- I would sleep with my keyboard because I loved my computer so much
- I always won the “computer award” in school every year
- I once ran up a $900 AOL bill, not realizing that we were billed by the minute (was living with my Dad at the time)
- I always wanted a pony but my parents always said no
- I went away to tennis camp at Nick Bolletteiri for summers as a kid
- I loved playing tennis and swimming on our club’s swim team every summer
- I went to Outward Bound and lived in the woods for weeks as a 15 year old. No showers. Nothing.
- It changed me forever and turned me into a leader.
- I thought I was going to die (seriously) and mailed my Mom many letters apologizing for being a brat.
- I took 3 years of latin in middle school
- I took 2 years of french in high school
- I don’t really remember any of it 🙁
- My favorite subject in school was English
- My least favorite was Math, in fact I had to get tutored in it starting in elementary school
- I played basketball and softball in high school (not every year though)
- My Grandparents bought a farm when I was 12 and gave me my first pony
- I became horse-obsessed and rode until I graduated college
- I rode on the University of Florida Equestrian Team
- I loved show jumping horses, but would usually get so nervous I’d puke before a show
- The only reason I don’t ride now is because I can’t afford a horse!
- I still miss my horse
- My horse Dewey was blind in one eye
- I was involved in theatre in high school, but only on a Public Relations basis (which turned out to be my degree)
- I won awards for my P.R. in high school for the Thespians
- I regret how I treated my Mom as a teenager, wish I could take all the brattiness back
- I got my sweet dog, Lambchop, as a 16th birthday present
- I’ve always loved cars
- My high school boyfriend once gave me a souped up muffler and I thought it was the best gift ever
- My parents made fun of me for wanting a muffler
- I also spent all of my money on speakers for my Honda Accord
- Many family members worked in the car business and I thought that is what I would do
- I spent a summer filing in the attic of my Grandpa’s Cadillac dealership. It was hot.
- I had braces twice and wouldn’t smile as a kid before them because I didn’t like my teeth
- I married a dentist- ironic, huh?
- I have a half-sister from my biological dad (she’s 13, wonderful and my only bio-sibling)
- The University of Florida was the only college I applied to (seems crazy to me now!)
- I didn’t know anyone when my parents dropped me off at UF for summer session my freshman year (8,000 freshmen)
- I’m still friends with my dorm roommate & we ended up joining the same sorority
- I joined Zeta Tau Alpha my freshman year and am so glad for the sisterhood
- My step-sisters were ADPi’s and Tri-Delts
- My Mom didn’t go to college, but insisted I did and wanted me to rush a sorority
- I’m glad she (kind of) forced me to rush
- I thought I wanted to be a veterinarian
- Until I took an organic chemistry class and realized I was better suited for public relations
- I lived in the athlete’s dorm my freshman year
- Some of the guys who lived on my floor still play in the NFL
- I bar tended at a place called “Cluck U Chicken” for a couple of years
- We served $5 all you can drink beer. It was a blast (and good money!)
- I once ate pizza for 40 days in a row (Papa Johns was next to Cluck U)
- I was Judicial Chair for my sorority
- I was quarterback for the ZTA flag football team
- I’m not a morning person
- I have half of my MBA finished. Someday I will get to the other half!
- I moved to Rhode Island in 2005
- I accepted a job with Pfizer and they relocated me to Providence
- I met my husband through work
- His office staff pretty much set us up!
- We got engaged in our townhouse and he had Lambchop bring me the ring & Rex bring me flowers
- We were married in my hometown of St. Petersburg, Florida
- We honeymooned in Maui
- I like to golf, but only if I can drink beer while playing
- I can shotgun a beer faster than most men (pretty good at beer pong too ;))
- I haven’t heard from my Dad (the one who adopted me) since April 2011. I decided I would see how long it took him to call me. Still waiting.
- I haven’t spoken to my StepMom (adopted Dad’s wife) since December of 2004. That’s a good thing.
- People say my Mom looks like my sister. She totally does
- I always thought my daughter would be blonde. She has auburn hair and I can’t imagine her any other way
- I’m very close to my biological father’s family, his father (my Grandpa Jack) walked me down the aisle at our wedding
- I bought our dog, Rex, on the internet. He is actually twice what he was supposed to weigh.
- I wasn’t sure I would enjoy having kids
- Being a mother is the best thing ever, I can’t imagine my life without our kids
- I never imagined I would feel as strongly about breastfeeding as I do
- Same goes for car seat safety
- I NEVER thought I would WANT to own a minivan
- I love Facebook for being able to reconnect with lost friends and family
- I hate Facebook because it shows the ugly, braggy, whiney side of some people
- I’d love to skydive, but never will because I know 2 people who have died from it & I want to be here for my kids as long as possible
- I’m totally addicted to technology, particularly all Apple products (pining for an iMac at the moment)
- I wish I was trained in graphic design besides the couple of courses I took at UF
- I wish I knew CSS as well as my designer Sarah
- I love living in Rhode Island and don’t miss Florida, just the people in it
- I’m blessed with amazing friends
- My family might be crazy, but they’re wonderful
- I believe that you get what you give in life
- I also believe that everything happens for a reason
- I believe in God, but I don’t think you have to go to a church to have a relationship with him
- I’m happier than I ever knew was possible. Thank you God & universe!

This is an awesome list. I learned a LOT about you!! I can’t believe you love cars!! Totally unexpected. I dated a gear head for 3 years when I lived in TX, and he is the reason I can’t stand cars now! haha. I secretly worry that B will be a gear head when he gets older…due to his love of the movie Cars and all things car. 😉
Love this! and I can’t believe you rode a horse that was blind in one eye. That’s gutsy. I love the $900 AOL bill, too. and we’ve all seen you shotgun a beer! I can attest to that fun fact. 🙂 Good stuff, here!
I love your list! This was such a fun project to get to know everyone better. 🙂
You need to get back to finish your MBA!! Love that you call yourself a computer geek!!! LOVE it!! My sister’s newborn baby has that on her face too. She’s hoping it goes away.
Love this!! I have a friend who rides/jumps now – I should introduce you two! She has a horse and a pony for her daughters. I love learning all these amazing facts about everyone – we all have so much history that makes us who we are, its interesting to see what’s gotten us to this place.
I didn’t know you played tennis–you should come down and play on our clay courts next summer on the Cape! 🙂
What a great list! I love that you were legally adopted at such a young age- how special! – 3 weeks old- wow- your mom is a rockstar! And yes, we need to play tennis my friend!
OMG! AOL…whoops! How would we ever blog with that dial up nonsense. I learned so much about you and I miss Rhode Island and all the people in it.
I loved reading your list! Even though you’re my friend IRL, I didn’t know all of these!! I love beer pong, except I need to play with something besides beer! 😉 Also love cars & always have…secretly wish I won the lottery so I could match my car to my mood everyday!!
I played tennis, but I haven’t played since college. My daughter started playing and now I miss it. I can also drink beer incredibly fast.
isn’t it funny how most of us started with computers when we were young? before it was a thing? lol sorry about your dad. i hope he realizes what he’s missing before its too late. so glad you live in RI!
haha!!! and yes, I find myself in complete agreement with #87 (wanting a minivan). What has happened to me?????
I am loving these posts. It is fun to get a glimpse into what makes people who they are. I used to ridehorses all the time growing up. When I moved here and had an allergy test they told me i was allergic! Random. I think I had a similar experience with an AOL bill too! lol
I think about my own teenage years and pray to the heavens my daughters are kinder to me than I was to my mom! I loved learning about your family history. I haven’t talked to my bio dad in over 10 years and I’ve never looked back. ps. Love the pic! Reminds me of your little guy =)
I love your blog Joanna!
Thanks Carelee!
